Fashion Icon of the month: Chloe Grace Moretz

Ash-blond hair (sometimes dyed in a sophisticate choccolate brown, for script requirements), green eyes and all the exuberance of a teenager united with an air of a consumed diva. She's Chloe Grace Moretz, fashion icon of this month. Enfant prodige and rising star of new Hollywood movie scene, she became an icon of new horror genre, despite her young age. Only 17 years old, she can boast a resume in no way inferior to that of many other colleagues that counts collaborations with sacred monster of cinema such Martin Scorsese or Tim Burton.

Fashion Icon of the month: Emma Stone

Hi guys! The fashion icon of this month is one of the most promising and talented of the moment, required by directors and the most important fashion magazines. Twenty-three years and a series of cult movies behind her back: I'm talking about the beuatiful and chameleon Emma Stone, one of the youngest Hollywood's levers.

Fashion icon of the month: Louise Roe

Long brwon hair, dazzling smile and long skinny legs that rivals a top model. Oh, yeah and an impeccable sense of fashion! Journalist, stylist, tv host and, recently, also fashion designer, our fashion icon of the month is one of the most appreciated style icons by fashionistas, but not only. I'm talking about Louise Roe.

Fashion icon of the month: Neal Caffrey

The fashion icon of this month, alas, ia a fictional character (but what a character!) and one of the new stars of american television. Ice-blue eyes, deep like two mirrors, bewitching smile and a charm... almost criminal, are just few of the trademark of the most famous gentleman thief of the small screen. And no, I'm not talking about Lupin but about Neal Caffrey the charming and brilliant coin man of the tv show White Collar, played by the equally charming actor Matt Bomer. Yes, I admit it: I also am one of the many victims that the dear Matt/Neal leaves behind him...

Lana del Rey

Music & Fashion: Lana del Rey

The protagonist of this month is one of the most promising talents of international music scene. Languid look, almost melancholic, fleshy lips and a worm and fascinating voice. Forget Madonna and Britney Spears, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga. The new real queen of pop is her: Lana del Rey, born Elizabeth Woolridge Grant. Intriguing and charming as a fairytale character, Lana looks like a modern incarnation of a diva who came form the past and sings love and desolation trough mysterious and melting melodies.

Paris Fashion Week F/W 2013-14

Is ended just yesterday the last edition of Paris Fashion Week F/W 2013-14. An edition full of  interesting collections that confirm, if ever there was a need, Paris as one of the coolest capital of fashion.

Among the many fashion shows that took place during these seven days, there were many collections that I particularly liked, each particular in its own way. Here a selection of my favourite ones.

Florence Welch

Muisc&Fahion: Florence Welch

This month for the column Music&Fashion the spotlight shine on one of the most talented and interesting artists of the contemporary music scene. Fire red hair, languid look (almost melanchonic) and an enchanting voice. Just a few strokes, few shades, are enough to describe Florence Welch, vocalist of the Florence + The Machine the band with which she has climbed the pinnacle of success in just four years.

Surrealism is the new fashion...

When the reality where we live is more and more complicated, stressful and devoid of color, the only possible refuge is an alternative and fantastic world, made of dream and illusion, where you can free your thoughts and come into contact with your subconcious. This is the concept on which is based the artistic mouvement of Surrealism, doubly tied with fashion since its inception. It's impossibile to not think to Elsa Schiapparelli and her creations, like the "music" dress or the the "shoe" hat, emblems of the binomial art-fashion.

Joan Mirò Nocturne (1938)

Salvador Dalì, Joan Mirò and René Magritte, leaders of this mouvment, are able to regain, through their artworks, the sense of beauty and today they're celebrated by brand like Moschino Cheap & Chic, Diane von Furstenberg and Charlotte Olympia. For the series: if trendy is good, art is super cool! Take a look...

Neo victorian style

In spite of the austerity and the period of crisis, this season seems to be dedicated to regal women. They are urban princesses who face everyday life with style and elegance, looking for luxory on clothes and eccessories, eager to tenderness and romance. That's how a new trend is imposed on the fashion scene. I'm talking about Neo-Victorian style, one of the most classy and sophisticated trend proposed for f/w 2012-13.

"Neo-Victorian" - Vogue Netherlands (November 2012)

A lot of brands have been conquered by this style in past seasons, among them Chanel, Anna Sui, Zac Posen and  Vivienne Westwood in their f/w 2009-10 or even  collections.

Chanel, Anna Sui, Vivienne Westwood f/w 2009-10
Zac Posen f/w 2009-10, Christian Dior, Emilio Pucci f/w 2011-12

This year neo-victorian style sees a new light thanks to tv shows like Downtown Abbey and they are brought into vogue by brands like Stella McCartney, Aquilano Rimondi, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana and Oscar de la Renta, just to list a few.

Oscar de la Renta, Aquilano Rimondi, Dolce & Gabbana f/w 2012-13
Gucci, Valentino, Stella McCartney f/w 2012-13

As modern Jane Austen we say yes to laces and embroidery, tartan patterns and bows, velvet and ruffles that frame the neck, crystal decorations and accessories made with stones and rhinestones that look like crowns, showing off opulence and refinement. I like this style so much, it's so retro and modern at the same time, so refined but also so easy to wear. Here some examples of how I like to wear neo-victorian style:

This will aways be my safe place... - Miu Miu's polyvore
Neo-Victorian style - Miu Miu's polyvore

I admitt that a total look might seem a little exagerate, but if it's matched in the right way the final effect is super cool. My fashion tip?  If you like this look you can wear it in the way of Yulia Tymoshenko, ex Prime Minister of Ukraine and perfect icon of neo-victorian style, or  if  you want to try something different you can  take inspiration by the look worn by Victoria Beckham matching a long pencil skirt with a shirt and a large tie.

If you like this style, here some low cost options proposed by brands like Zara, Mango and Oasap

Trends 2012: Stripes

Horizontal, vertical, maxi or colored, stripes are confirmed as one of the coolest trends for s/s season 2012, always chic and versatile. Perfect with navy style, they're also great if paired with other styles. Not only the classical shades of white, blue, black and red but also pastel and neon colors as mint and acid yellow. A classic revisited in a more easy way, with freedom and imagination.

Among brands that proposed this tyle we have Fendi, Jean Paul Gaultier and Burberry Prorsum.

Fendi, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Burberry Prorsum s/s 2012
10 Crosby Derek Lam, Boy and Girl by Band of Outsiders, Mulberry s/s 2012
Daks, Jean Paul Gaultier, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac s/s 2012

I like stripes: they're so stylish! You can match each other or combine them with other prints...

Many are the low cost proposals by brands like H/M, Stradivarius, Zara and Promod.

Fashion trends 2012: pastel colors

Fashion and trends for s/s 2012 are so many, everyone can find her own style, playing with contrasts and monochromatic and multicolored combinations. The good of fashion is to experiment with news, eccentric or chic proposals, according to taste: we have seen fluo colors, white, ethnic and navy style, 50's revival, prints of every type, clothes that look like sweet candies, the fascinating deco style, 3D fashion etc. But, one of trends that I loved the most, is pastel colors: sweet, discreet and romantic, suitable for day and night. Cream, pink, light blue, mint are not news, but a lovely confirmation. Pastel colors are back to paint spring with a particular "candy" effect. The pallet of colors plays with soft shades, even mixed together.

A romantic style, that make us feel like child, but if it's calibrated with more aggressive accessories and inserts, can become more whimsical and particularly seductive. A delicate and whispered femininity, for a candy look, soft and gentle of true good girls.
Several brands were conquired by the tenderness of pastel colors. Among them, there are: Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren and Etro.

Mulberry, Luca Luca, Versus, Hussein Chalayan s/s 2012
Jason Wu, Issey Miyake, Luisa Beccaria, Unique s/s 2012
Preen, Agnes B, Doo.Ri, Akris s/s 2012
Fendi, John Galliano, .Normaluisa, Phillip Lim s/s 2012
Prada, Marc Jacobs, Cacharel, Louis Vuitton s/s 2012
Ralph Lauren, Jonathan Saunders, Alexander McQueen, Rochas s/s 2012
Nina Ricci, Reed Krakoff, Zac Posen, Costume National s/s 2012
I love these coloras: they look like some sorbets... This year, we will wear pastel colors everywhere: from head to toe. You can opt for a total look or combine them together, just like that:

Spring pastels - Helleka's polyvore
Pastel colors - Miu Miu's polyvore
Pastel colors #2 - Miu Miu's polyvore

There are several low cost brand that proposed pastel color as main trend for s/s 2012. Among them I chose Pull and Bear, Stradivarius, Zara, H/M and tally Weijl. Check out this little gallery and tell me what you think about it.

Trends 2012: Floral style

Among themes that will depopulate more on this spring/summer season, there are flower prints, always among the most popular choises. Flowers of every dimension, even raised in 3D effect, enrich the fabrics and decreed floral style as trend for s/s 2012.

Pants, skirts, dresses, blazers and blouses dress up with colorful flowers, creating, sometimes, a total floral effect even on shoes and accessories. Among brands that proposed floral style, there are Moschino cheap and chic, Blumarine, Blugirl and Louis Vuitton.

Louis Vuitton, Blumarine, Dolce e Gabbana, Christopher Kane s/s 2012
Moncler Gamme Rouge, Blugirl, Araks, Dries Van Noten s/s 2012
Moschino cheap and chic, Oscar de la Renta, Rodarte, Dolce e Gabbana s/s 2012
Ashish, Alexander McQueen, Peter Som, Mary Katrantzou s/s 2012
Erdem, Antonio Marras, Junya Watanabe, Luca Luca s/s 2012

A versatile style both romantic and lively, suitable for day and night if it's matched well. Personally, I think that a floral total look it's too much, I prefere just one or two pieces to combine with a other basic ones, just like that:

Floral style #2 - Miu Miu's polyvore

Fashion trends 2012: Gold

In time of crisis (and nobody knows better than us), precious metals are the property of refuge for excellence. That's how takes life one of the most precious trends for spring/summer 2012: Gold style. A flow of gold embellishes clothes and accessories that are enriched by pearls and crystals  following the dream of abundance.

In spite of crisis, yes to jewel dresses. And more you have, and so forth. Gold, precious stones and a lot of glamour. All the ingredients to revive a new Golden Age. Among brands that are made groped by gold, we have Roberto Cavalli, Gucci, Moschino, Balmain and Alexander McQueen.

Michael Kors, Alexandre Herchcovitch, Badgley Mishka, Blumarine s/s 2012
Dolce e Gabbana, Elie Saab, Giambattista Valli, Guy Laroche s/s 2012
Roberto Cavalli, Krizia, Ralph Lauren, Hakaan s/s 2012
Gucci, Emilio Pucci, Alexander McQueen, Just Cavalli s/s 2012

Since I was a child, I've always been attracted by shiny things as a thieving magpie, so I like the idea of wear a gold waterfall even if, I have to admit, that I'm not a big fan a total gold look... I think it's a bit tacky! But, at the same time, I think that on a basic outfit a gold insert, gives a particular glamorous touch!

Gold style - Miu Miu's polyvore
Gold style #2 - Miu Miu's polyvore
Gucci - Jenuarik's polyvore

What do you think? Have you been infected too by the gold fever?

Fashion trends 2012: Minimal style

One of coolest trends for spring/summer season, is minimal style: a style, synonymous of refined simplicity, of not ostentatious femininity, of a clean elegance that doesn't need of frippery... A basic style, cared in every details, perfect for women that want to assert themselves with kindness and determination.
Basic shapes, soft fabrics, flared or shaped silhouettes, never wrapped, and basic colors: beige, cream, white and grey. Some divagations are granted to orange and blue. Yes to chemisiers and blazers, directly for your boyfriend's closet and vintage accessories, maybe 50's style.
Among sveral brands that have been inspired by this style, there are  C'N'C Costume National, Chloé, Lanvin, Armani, Chanel and Balenciaga.

Balenciaga, Gianfranco Ferré, Alberta Ferretti, N°21 s/s 2012
Emporio Armani, Bottega Veneta, Gabriele Colangelo, Trussardi s/s 2012
Sportmax, Max Mara, Yves Saint Laurent, Lanvin s/s 2012

Chloé, Akris, Chanel, Phillip Lim s/s 2012
C'N'C Costume Nationale, Diesel Black Gold, Trussardi, United Bamboo s/s 2012

I love this style: simple and classy, perfect for every occasion. Flared dress, flat sandals et violà... absolutely great!

White minimal - Ffpava's polyvore
Do The Minimal - Juuh's polyvore
Minimalism - Chicgiselle's polyvore

Personal tips: yes to high shoes, rigorously without plateau, with rounded tips, with high heels that slend the silhouette, but comfortable enough to walk easly. Combine the basic pieces with strong details, as sequins, 3D accessories or maxu jewels...
