MET Ball 2012: best and worst looks

It was held the annual MET Ball that every fashion lover looks forward to find out the outfits of starlettes and models and that this year celebrates two italian excellents in the fashion world: Elsa Schiapparelli and Miuccia Prada, two women who, in different times, suggested new readings, trough their innovations in fashion.
The Metropolitan Museum of art pays tribute to these great women trough an awaited exhibition, "Schiapparelli and Prada: impossible conversation", from May 10 to August 19.

Elsa Schiapparelli and Miuccia Prada
The show is nothing but a "call and reponse" between two style that characterizes and changed two different periods. Baz Luhrman direct the engaging debate showing on one hand, the surrealist and classic of Elsa; on the other the postmodern and ecletic - chic of Miuccia.

More than 200 pieces that tell the iconic stories of these two ladies, with a period ranging from 20's to  50's and from 80's to now, on a mix of clothes, accessories and pictures that will parade, into seven categories, divided by theme: Waist up/Waist down, Ugly chic, Hard chic, Naif chic, The classic body, The exotic body and The surreal body.

As with any event, the exhibition was presented at the Party Gala ceremony, attended by Miuccia Prada and a parterre of stars from fashion, television, music and cinema.
Many rumors and curiosity about who would wear Prada, but she was very clear about it saying that not everyone can wear Prada,'cause she has in her mind "a type" of ideal girl and only she will have the opportunity to chose the dress created by the designer. Among the lucky ones that had the honor to wear the italian brand, there were: Gwyneth Paltrow (amazing in her mini - dress), Amber Valletta and the new bride Carey Mulligan (Miuccia Prada designed her wedding dress).
There were so many celebs who showed so many looks and, of course, there were choises that I liked most and other that I liked less.
In my opinion the best look are:

WHITE
A lot of stars chose to wear this color shade. The best looks have been worn by Claire Danes (elegant, classy and beautiful in her J. Mendel dress) and Anna Wintour (that worn a great  white gown signed by Elsa Schiapparelli) followed by Amy Adams (in Gianbattista Valli), Ashley Greene (in Donna Karan Couture), Jessica Biel (in Prada) and Lily Collins (Valentino).

Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake - Lily Collins

BLACK
Black was the true protagonist of outfits shown on red carpet. Of all, I preferred the looks of Gisele Bundchen (in my opinion the best dresses, amazing and sexy in her Givenchy dress), Rooney Mara (elegant and classy, but I'd smile a little), Cate Blanchett (a true diva in her Alexander McQueen feathered gown) and Chloé Sevigny (saucy in her Miu Miu dress)

METALLIC
A blaze of gold and silver has illuminated the carpet of MET. Stars as Cameron Diaz (sparkle in her Stella McCartney gown), Camilla Bell (in Ralph Lauren), Carey Mulligan (so pretty in her Prada dress), Gwyneth Paltrow (amazing in Prada, even if her outfit was too minimal for the occasion), Anne V (Prada), Jessica Alba (in Michael Kors).

YELLOW
Other color present on red carpet was yellow, worn by stars as Solange Knowles (in Christopher Kane), Emma Robert (in Escada) and Coco Rocha (pretty in her boyiend look signed by Givenchy).

GREEN
A color that not everyone can wear and that stars as Dianna Agron (in a pretty Carolina Herrera gown) and Constance Jablonsky (Haider Hackerman) showed on red carpet.

RED/ORANGE
Next to colors like yellow, green and black, another colors that we saw on red carpet are red and orange in their shades. Eva Mendes (Prada), Emma Stone (lovely in Lanvin), Kristen Wiig (in Stella McCartney), Milla Jovovich (Prada).

BLUE
A classic color always elegant and sophisticated chose by Lea Michele (Diane von Furstenberg), Heidi Klum and Candice Swanepoel (Rag and Bone)

And now, for the categories Worst dressed and Maybe not, we have celebrities as Rihanna, Florence Welch, Ginnifer Goodwin and Kirsten Dunst. Here an overview of definitely out looks:

Giovanna Battaglia
Rosario Dawson
Beyoncé

Giovanna Battaglia: the editor of L'Uomo Vogue chose a dress by Dolce e Gabbana that definetely is not for her. It gets her old at least twenty years and that headgear...
Rosario Dawson: the beautiful actress in leather gown by Calvin Klein. The only problem is it's not exactly suited to the color of her skin. Beyonce: the gown she chose a gown by Givenchy that is unnecessarily transparent, that doesn't exalt her physique, rather it accentuates her abundant curves (althoug I think she looks better a little more meat) and doesn't enanches her complexion. Result? Rejected!

Bianca Brandolini D'Adda
Florence Welch

Bianca Brandolina D'Adda: what the hell did she wear? Usally she chooces simple, elegant and glamurous outfits. What was she thinking? Florence Welch: this dress by McQueen looked so much better worn by the model. She looks like a huge meringue and I refuse to believe she is 24!

Grace Coddington
Hilary Swank
Kate Upton

Grace Coddington: looking this picture I can't hlp to think to the witch of Hansel and Gretel. Definitely wrong look for the journalist and former model. Hilary Swank: the dress is nice but she looks too banal and doesn't do justice to it. Kate Upton: no specific reason, I don't think this looks is for her.

Kirsten Dunst
Kristen Stewart
Lana del Rey
Kirsten Dunst: terribly wrong choice for the actress that showes an old - fashioned outfit and a tired look that hides her beauty. Kristen Stewart: I don't like this Balenciaga dress, she look older than her young age. Poor Kris, it looks that she had not desire to be there. Lana del Rey: a new version of Morgane with some glitter more. Definetely out!

Leighton Meester
Linda Fargo
Anja Rubik

Leighton Meester: in her place, I would chose another dress and use a little less tanning spray! Linda Fargo: her purpose to homage Elsa Schiapparelli failed, she seems to get out of fairytale like "The lord of the ring"... deinitely not appropriate. Anja Rubik: exaggerated look for the model who showed a dizzy slit, a little too osé for the event.

M.I.A.
Rosie Huntington-Waithley
Sarah Jessica Parker
M.I.A: exaggerated and misplaced look, I don't like it at all. Rosie Huntington-Witheley: she a true sexy bomb, I think she could do better that that. Sarah Jessica Parker: OMG! Who killed Carrie Bradshaw and SJP's style? One the best fashion icon of last years in one of the worst outfit of the night. Seriously? Couldn't you do better?

Marc Jacobs
Marc Jacobs: One moment of silence for the tragic death of good taste. What is more obscene we saw on red carpet of last years. I prefer to not comment more.
