Paris Fashion Week F/W 2013-14

Is ended just yesterday the last edition of Paris Fashion Week F/W 2013-14. An edition full of  interesting collections that confirm, if ever there was a need, Paris as one of the coolest capital of fashion.

Among the many fashion shows that took place during these seven days, there were many collections that I particularly liked, each particular in its own way. Here a selection of my favourite ones.

VALENTINO
Delicious. There are a few other owrds to describe the f/w collection by Valentino: feminine, classy and youthful at the same time. Even if it's thought for young and classy women, it also is perfectly suitable for grown women. Laces, embroidery and sensual transparences are just a few of the most iconic elements.

CELINE
There are grace, elegance and romance in this collection created by Céline. Flared shapes are animated by fluent waves that caress gently the body, a pallet of colors (played on light shades like ivory and powder pink and other darker ones like navy blue and black) and soft fabrics like cachemere, wool/silk and mink are the key elements of this collection capable to give an allure of timeless femininity.

CHRISTIAN DIOR
In a world where art and fashion can find the perfect balance, the last Raf Simons is a true gem. Thought as a sketchbook, it perfectly takes the artistic soul of Christian Dior. Pop art and surrealistic paintings become sublime embroidery that dominate clothes with a grace and an elegance that transcend time and space.

EMANUEL UNGARO
Directly form the archives of the Maison, here a collection thought for a modern Party Girl:  mini dresses with sexy gaps, baggy pants, leather tops and a lot of fur. Shapes and colors are inspired by 80's and characterized by a mix of materials and asymmetries.

LANVIN
The collection has in it all the best of Lanvin's style: tailoring, care for details and exaltation of femininity through classic shapes animated by delicious ruffles and fabrics like satin duchesse, silk, organza and lace. The dresses are a masterpiece of construction style but show off grace and elegance mixed with an easy and sophisticated allure of intelligent and spirited modernity.

GARETH PUGH
Once upon a time in the land of Paris... this is the way you might  start to talk about the f/w collection by Gareth Pugh. Almost a gothic tale, characterized by dark tones (Tim Burton's style), populated by mysterious ladies, with pale and restless faces, wrapped by taffeta and ruffles, that charm the viewer who is like seized by a fashion spell. A ritual femininity told by a maestry that evoke an arcane charm.

NINA RICCI
The show brought on catwalk all the charm of Nina Ricci's world. Beautiful girls with porcelain skin and past grace, wear fragile and delicate dresses and tell serene and gentle image, sensual and languid but full of modern nonchalance.

TSUMORI CHISATO
One of the most emotional moments during this PFW has been, for sure, the fashion show of Tsumori Chisato. Actually, more than a fashion show was like to attend to a modern art exhibition. Among pop art and post-impressionist artworks, passing through japanese prints, walk the chatwalk the f/w collection: prints, cocoon shapes, many ruffles and oversized volumes are the trademark of this youthful, fresh and funny collection.

SAINT LAURENT
One of the brands that made of french fashion an institution in the whole world totally changed its face. If, once, the woman imagined by Yves Saint Laurent was yes glamorous but characterized by an elegance that followed specific standards, now she wears the shoes of the bad girl, rock and a little bit grunge, with a urban and aggressive style. Leather, sensual transparences, dark colors and a raw attitude of a bohemian girl, confident and superglamour who chooses not to play at being a princess.

VIKTOR & ROLF
Thanks to a suggestive tribute to black and white, the non-colors par excellence, the designers tell, through dresses more similar to little sculptures (characterized by wraps that look like flowersin front of the sun), a restless but elegant and quite femininity.

And you? What do you think about?
