Fashion icon of the month: Louise Roe

Long brwon hair, dazzling smile and long skinny legs that rivals a top model. Oh, yeah and an impeccable sense of fashion! Journalist, stylist, tv host and, recently, also fashion designer, our fashion icon of the month is one of the most appreciated style icons by fashionistas, but not only. I'm talking about Louise Roe.

Special signs: fashionable. She doesn't follow fashion, she is fashion! Louise has been able to turn her passion for fashion into a job. Graduated in english litterature in 2004, she decides to follow her father's footsteps working as journalist. She begins to take her fist steps in fashion industry as internist at important fashion magazines Elle UK and InStyle, where she writes and works as stylist. In 2007 one of her editors wants her on BBC Breakfast. The union Louise Roe/fashion is perfect so she begins her carreer as tv host at the helm of BBC's programs like The Clothes Show, E!'s Fashion Police and E!'s Perfect Catch. In the same period she appears on Britain's Next Top Model and Project Catwalk as guest judge. In 2008 she is busy in hosting programs like BBC's Style Network's How Do I Look, 10 things I Hate About Me and Make Me A Super Model.

In 2009, after hosting The Clothes Show and  some web segments for Vogue.com, she moves in USA where she's contacted by the editors of Elle magazine to be the new face of elle.com (in this occasion she appears in few episodes of MTV's reality The City, in the role of Olivia Palermo "antagonist").

She moves to Los Angeles and hosts the CW's Plain Jane in which, as a modern Fairy Godmother, she shows off her experience as stylist to help young girls to regain confidence in their own and conquer the guys of their dreams. In 2011 she hosts the pre-show of MTV's Europe Music Awards from the red carpet at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast.

In 2012 she is chosen as host for the NBC's Fashion Star, replacing the top model Elle Macpherson, and she starts her career as fashion designer. She signs, in fact, an amazing capsule collection of shoes and accessories for the London based brand Stylelipstick.

Her style is really eclectic and elegant, with a delicious vintage taste reinterpreted in a more modern way, rich of details but simple at the same time. A little bit hippie, a little bit indie rock, she alternates different moods with so much ease, matching low cost garments with important accessories  and vice versa. What I like the most of her style is its dynamic estrus: her outfits are often lively and colorful, always original and never trivial. Here a short selection of her best looks. Main elements of her style are:
  • high-waisted pants, better if they're flared, that emphasize her slender silhouette;
  • prints: mostly 70's, in particular on blouses and maxi dresses;
  • hats, mostly panamas;
  • high heels: although she enjoys of a considerable height, Louise never gives up to a nice pair of heels;
  • colors: almost all, actually, from natuarl to the most bright ones, to mix each other (she's a fan of color blocking);
  • maxi accessories: rings, in particular. Biggest they are, the better.

Glamorous, beautiful and funny. Louise Roe has every quality you're looking for in a fashion icon.
