Is just ended last february 13th the New York Fashion Week F/W 2014-15, one of the most awaited event in fashion industry during which the biggest names of the fashion made in USA like Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch, J Mendel and Marc Jacobs, just to quote some of them, were challenged, with strokes of styles and inspirations among the most diverse, in proposing the anticipations for the next f/w season.
Archived the week of Paris Haute Couture and Alta Roma Alta Moda, is time to pass the baton to The Big Apple for seven days of pure style and glamour that confirm New York as the main capital and heartbeat of overseas fashion. Here a little review of the collections that I liked the most.
POLO RALPH LAUREN
Double show, this year, for Ralph Lauren, standard-bearer of american style and elegance, that illuminates the catwalks of NYFW with two amazing special collections. Animated by a young and fresh spirit, Polo Collection, proposes a lively look by a sporty chic mood, of very upper class girls: schoolgirls dresses, shorts, cardigans and soft blouses.
RALPH LAUREN COLLECTION
In stark contrast with the first one, for Raplh Lauren Collection luxury and glamour walk on catwalk in minimal, ladylike and elegant collection. Formal coats, asymmetric dresses and male suits. Quirk quirky is fur, certified and authorized by animal rights association PETA.
ALICE + OLIVIA
It's like a dark fairytale the one told by the designer on the catwalk of NYFW. In a mix of tulle, broquade and embroidery brings to life a ladylike, a little gothic collection, made of mini dresses, soft blouses, flared skirts and dresses with plunging necklines, played on the tones of black and blue, with some red and gold touches.
TOMMY HILFIGER WOMAN
The show looks like a living picture of a vacation in the mountains of Aspen, the models walks on catwalk in cute and comfy clothes with a sporty taste and captivating glmaour touches.
Protagonist of the collection are 20's and 30's. A fascinating retro mood inspired by the actress Anna May Wong, enriched by an irresistible bohemien touch: flapper dresses, silk embroidered pijiamas, stoles and fur coats, floral dresses and colored hippie boots. Gemstones define the palette giving free use of turquoise, teal, ruby red, cobalt blue and violet combined with animal and Art Deco patterns.
PHILOSOPHY BY NATALIE RATABESI
A return to the glorious past for the brand that finds a whole new energy in the creations of Natalie Ratabesi who proposes soft flared dresses combined with asymmetric decolletes and cuissardes boots. Textures are variegate, fur and leather are mixed with and so is the palette that goes from total monochrome looks to floral patterns. That's how that the understatement style meets the lightness of being and becomes art.
Inspired by Hamish style, reinterpreted in a more modern and urban version, the collection proposes fedora hats, outwear, pants, scarves, caftans and oversized knitting in male fabrics and in a palette of colors based on blue shades, red, black, white and grey.
