Among trends proposed for this F/W season, after the pleasing return of total black style, another blast from the past brought in vogue the velvet, intended to be a true must of season. It has always been a synonymous of refinement and elegance and, this year, is proposed in its every declinations, with retrò references (inspired by 20's) and in a more modern way, in the classic shades of black and other colors like blue, red and green.
Velvet has been a trend some season ago, in F/W 2010/11 proposed by brands like DKNY, Charlotte Ronson and Oscar de la Renta. This year, several brands have been conquered by the soft pleasure of velvet. Among them we have some names like Versace, Gucci, Armani and Ralph Lauren.

I love velvet: it's so soft and sensual that you can't resist to the temptation to touch it, it has the hability to play with light and create always new shades and nuances and then, I don't know... it's so particular and rich in its essence that makes me think to the rich dresses of nobles in the old european courts. You can opt for a total look (but I think it's a little too much) or play with a game of contrasts combine it with other fabrics, just like that:
