Happy b-day Jean Paul Gaultier

Today is a special occasion. Today, in fact, the Peter Pan of fashion system, Jean Paul Gaultier, blows out 60 candles.

Became assistant of Pierre Cardin when he was 18, without ever having attended a fashion school, today he's a symbol of an iconoclastic style, outside of every boxe, loved and celebrated by stars as Madonna and Lady Gaga, who have a taste just as imaginative and original as he has.

One of the hallmarks of Jean Paul Gaultier is, in fact, the iconic con bra, worn by Madonna on the music video of Vogue in 1990. After 22 years of their first collaboration, their relationship is more stronger than ever. Monsieur Gaultier, in fact, will design the clothes for the upcoming tour of MDNA that will start may 29th. All his story, from his first collaboration with Madonna until now, is contained on the retrospective dedicated to him, made by WWD magazine.

 Fashion designer full time, Jean Paul Gaultier, or how they use to call him Enfant terrible of fashion world, is a big passionate of music (in 1989 he recorded a single called "How to do that" and in 1995 he hosted the MTV Europe Music Awards) and cinema: he made costumes for a lot of movies as Kika by Pedro Almodovar (1993), La cité des enfants perdus by Jean-Pierre Jeunet (1995) and Le cinquième element by Luc Besson (1997). Several rumors want him as member of jury of next Cannes Film Festival, chaired by Nanni Moretti. "I can't confirm it, but I can't even deny it", said Gilles Jacob (president of CFF) to WWD, during a press conference that announced the selection of films in competition on the 65th edition of festival that will be held form may 16th to may 27th.

We just have to wait for festival and see how fashionable it will be. Meanwhile... Happy birthday Jean!
