THE GLAMOUR OF ITALIAN FASHION 1945-2014 EXHIBITION

Deep in the heart of London, the Victoria & Albert Museum pays its personal tribute to the style, the mastery and the tailoring art, all italian, with THE GLAMOUR OF ITALIAN FASHION 1945 - 2014, the exhibition - sponsored by Bulgari with the support of Blavatnik Family Foundation - that explores the big contribution that Italy gave to modern fashion since the end of Second World War. 

Front Row Faces: London Fashion Week F/W 2014-15

Is ended last 18th february the London Fashion Week F/W 2014-15 (here my review). Many collections presented, many styles and news seen. Here the best looks seen on the street during these seven days...

London Fashion Week F/W 2014-15 pills

Is ended last february 18 the London Fashion Week F/W 2014-15 with which starts the cycle of european fashion weeks. I have to admit that there were a few of very interesting proposals, nothing that we haven't already seen. Many collection presented were too commercial, in my opinion. Anyway, these are the collections that I liked the most.

BURBERRY PRORSUM

Inspired by british painter Vanessa Bell's floral style, the collection is the celebration of a style sometimes eccentric but still traditional. As on pantings, prints dominate on clothes and accessories on a pallette of colors that go from pink to slate, from yellow to amethyst. A romantic collection, ladylike with a urban chic taste.

London Fashion Week S/S 2014 pills

Is just ended the last Merceds Benz London Fashion Week S/S 2014, held from september 13th to 17th. As happened for New York, despite the beautiful collections presented, there have been few news, nothing really shocking... what a pity, right?

But we can't surely pretend the moon, can we? So, for the moment be satisfied waiting towards what expects us in Milan. In the meanwhile here a short review of my favourite collections.

London Fashion Week F/W 2013-14

After days of work, without phone line and internet connection, I can finally take a break and take care of my blog. Is ended last February 19th the London Fashion Week F/W 2013-14 and, even if some fashion shows that I couldn't wait to see have disappointed me a little, some of other show that crossed the catwalks of London were really interesting.

Passing by  Temperly London and Moschino Cheap and Chic, these are, in my opinion, the best collections seen in LFW 2013.

ALICE BY TEMPERLY

A tribute to romance. This could be the key to the collection made of laces, silk and chiffon, hourglass, stright and flared shapes and played on a pallet of colors that go from white to red, from powder pink to black. Elegant and feminine, dedicated to sophisticated women.

FYODOR GOLAN

Fantasy and dreamlike inspiration for this collection signed by Fydor Golan. Among silk, organza, pvc, satin, leather and tulle, alternate clothes with hourglass shapes and animated by little touches of color.

L'WREN SCOTT

With this collection Scott gives her personal tribute to the artworks of Gustav Klimt. Soft coats enriched by gold inserts, dresses studded by little decorations that look like a living reproduction of Klimt's works. Elegant and ladylike this collection found the perfect balance of love for old and eye focused on contemporary.

MOSCHINO CHEAP AND CHIC

The young style that always has been the trademark of the brand is more serious and adult, without losing the verve that characterizes it. Here appear tailored blazers, long skirts and fur coats always reinterpreted following the DNA of the brand that, among puff of fabrics and hems that look like ruffles, give us a fresh and elegant collection... pure Moschino style.

SISTER BY SIBLING

Is energic and funny the F/W collection signed by Paula Yates. The haevy volumes of knitwear are made more soft with a playful and ladylike aspect. I imagine an ironic punk princesswho loves to play with contrasts and volumes and who doesn't love to take her too seriously...

TEMPERLY LONDON

One of my favourite shows during the LFW 2013. Romantic and feminine, animated by stylish optical effects, the collection is characterized by linear and flared shapes, that remind 50's shapes, and pervaded by an allure that is bon ton and sensual at the same time. 

TOPSHOP UNIQUE

90's silhouettes, schoolgirl style and a rock twist are the inspirations of this collection that plays on contrasts of fabrics and lenghts. A great use of prints, inspired by baroque and victorian that dominates clothes, fur stoles and oversize accessories.

Pre-collections F/W 2013-14

In the last days in London and New York have been presented the Pre-fall/winter collection 2013-14. Among different styles and inspirations, these are, in my opinion, the best collections.

BELLSTAFF

Bellstaff presents a collection, result of a mix among biker-like inspiration (trademark of the brand), and equestrian, minimal and urban chic styles. The collection also presents a lot of leather used, damped by the wise use of cotton and silk, the sheepskin (present on the bon ton dresses), lace and camouflage prints in the shades of beige, bordeaux and black.

MOSCHINO CHEAP & CHIC

An ironic and nicely transgressive collection that is able to clear the classical of garments like coats and patterns like spotted through the wise use of fabrics like silk, lace and velvet and colors: from red to shocking pink, from grey to black.

DONNA KARAN

A collection characterized by elegance and classy. Played on the shades of white, grey and black with some touches of bordeaux and blue, this collection is composed by dresses with stright shapes, sometime flared, clean lines and a minimal chic mood that is made more and more sophisticated by the use of delicate fabrics like silk and organza.

MICHAEL KORS

For this collection the designer chose a nice retro style, characterized by silhouette with flared or high weist (typical of the decade 50's - 60's), floral prints and laces, made more easy and contemporary by the combination with the leather. The result? Absolutely chic!

CHANEL

Neo-victorian inspiration for this collection signed by Chanel. Presented in tribute to Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots, among the illuminated ruins of Linlithgow Palace, her birthplace, the collection is a clear declaration of love to scottish style: a lot of tweed, coats inspired by kilts, jodhpurs, divided skirts, tartan jeans and a clear reference to modern sportwear. Inspired by the amazing landscapes of Scotland, Karl Lagerfeld made his personal tribute to tartan pattern and took the chance to change the look to classical scottish kilt, presented in chiffon and silk.

London Fashion Week 2012

It's also ended yesterday the London Fashion Week 2012 that, with New York, Milan and Paris, is one of the biggest events in fashion world that brings to it the greatest representative of fashion. 

As always, there was many different but great styles but, in general, I was pretty satisfied by collections presented. Among confirmations and great comebacks, these are the collections that I liked the most.

ANTONIO BERARDI

This collection looks like a collage of asymmetries, destructuring, overlaps and patchowrk of materials and textures. Graceful and innovative, it's a tribute to tailoring tradition.

BURBERRY PRORSUM

Tradition and innovation united into a unique solution, rich of style and energy, precious in the jewel colors, contemporary for the use of tech and reflective materials that express brightness and enhance a classic style interpreted with a surprising versatility.

CHRISTOPHER KANE

Fascinating and elegant, this collection is a continous metamorphosis of styles: ladylike style that is turned into biker style, for example. Despite it don't seem that these styles are matchable together, the finale effect is very glamorous and feminine.

DAKS

A feminine collection, elegant in its simplicity. Based on pallet of neutral colors  that go form white to black, passing for beige and brown, it's a tribute to minimal chic style, dedicated to confident and classy women.

DION LEE

The emergent designer gave great proof of his talent creating a collection  with a linear style, almost futuristic, characterized by clean cuts and a multiform silhouette. Based on a pallet of colors that go from white to blue, to orange with some touches of black that give to the collection a feminine and elegant allure.

EMILIA WICKSTEAD

Romanticism: this is the key word to describe the collection with a lovely retro allure, with references to 50's and 60's  that remind me characters like Audrey Hepburn. Anyway there also is a modern touch represented by peplum and necklines. Dedicated to the most romantic fashionistas but not only.

EUDON CHOI

Sportwear reintepreted in tailoring way, delicate and elegant. With references to 60's, in cuts and shapes, it also presents  a futuristic soul evident in metallic fabrics and structured lines. In general, a collection with a strong personality.

GILES

The black and white is the liet motiv of the collection, perfect for day and night. Lace, feather and embroidery decorate fabrics like tassel and denim and other more precious like silk and crepe, made more rich by Swarovsky crystals.

HOLLY FULTON

A funny and girlish collection that is different from the others for its particular attention to the decorative elements: geometric and floral prints, true liet motiv of the collection. With delicate colors and a strong summer taste, the style proposed is perfect for a super chic vacation. Are you ready to go?

JONATHAN SAUNDERS

The collection is totally based on contrast: male/female, futuristic/retro. Metallic fabrics and clean and linear shapes are the main elements. 

MATHHEW WILLIAMSON

For this collection the designer takes inspiration form India and its colors. Thanks to a great mix of prints, colors and clean and soft shapes, is dedicated to all fashionistats who love glamour and practicity.

MULBERRY

A simple and elegant, feminine and delicate, the collection is a gift to all women who love a clean and chic style that is intepret  of a refined and discreet elegance. Light colors, soft and linear shapes and soft fabrics make this collection even more beautiful.

NICOLE FARHI

The designer realized a tribute to minimal style: simple and classy. The entire collection develops the essence with soft clothes, neutral colors with some touches of prints, and cleand and soft shapes.

PETER PILOTTO

The eccentricity seems to be  the main theme of the show that proposes the mix of prints, already seen in other past collections. Not innovative, maybe, but with a nice effect.

PPQ

A lively and colored style that honors 60's and 70's prints, with soft and flared shapes. Dedicated to young fashionistas who love a glamour and funny fashion.

PREEN

The brand celebrates its 150th anniversary with one of its best collections. Inspired by the movie Buffalo 66, it proposes contrasts and games of texture, fabrics and shapes, patchwork and overlaps. Tradition and innovation that are united into something great!

SASS & BIDE

A great comeback to the London Fashion Week for the brand that, for s/s 2013, proposes a  collection that is consistent in its precision, with a game of male and female concepts with a strong presence of smocking suits revisited in a modern way with origami style folds and geometric details. The designers, thanks to soft and shaped shapes, are able to play with the silhouette ina chic and captivating way.

SIMONE ROCHA

This collection is totally inspired by teenagers's spirit: romanitc, pure and, at the same time, rebel. The brand proposes virginal clothes, in broderie anglaise and tweed, that presents malicious transparencies.  Nice colors and soft fabrics, give a further romantic touch to the collection.

UNIQUE

The collection is pervaded  by a minimal chic allure, dedicated to confident and stylish women. Soft shapes, clean lines, floral, graphic and striped prints, neutral colors (like white and black), interspresed by other acid ones and sensual transparencies, are the main elements.

VIVIENNE WESTWOOD RED LABEL

A riot of colors and a tribute to british style reinterpreted in a contemporary and personal way, Vivienne Westwood style, with that touch of eccentricity that distinguishes her.

WILLOW

This collection is called "Willow the whisp" and, in my opinion, is the best collection presented in London Fashion Week. Soft and delicate, it reminds me the unreal atmospheres of dreams. The tailoring details are in contrast with the lightness of fabrics that are interpresed to other ones like leather that gives to the collection a contemporary touch maintaining, at the same time, a delicate and innocent mood.

Resort Collections s/s 2013

Milan, Paris, London and New York come back to shine under the spotlight of the fashion system. During these days, in fact, were presented the Resort Collections s/s 2013 by the biggest brands in the world. In this post, I want to show you my favourites collections.

Milan:

ANTONIO MARRAS

50's - 60's shapes, pastel colors and soft fabrics are the main characteristics  of this collection. It's also amazing the combo of prints and differents fabrics... Approved!

VIONNET

A delicate collection, tribute to femininity, proposed by Vionnet. Fluid, soft and ladylike fabrics, macro floral prints, big marks of colors matched with white paint the dresses with flared and butterfly shapes. A delicate pallette with warm colors and othe basic ones, that go from white to pastel colors like pink and light blue.

London:

ERDEM

A tribute to lace, proposed by Erdem, that dominated the entire collection, from clothes to shoes: printed, drawn or applied. A floral explosion is extended on garments trough a pallett of colors played on the blue shades, but also pink and cyclamen. The shapes are soft and vaguely retro.

WILLOW

A mix and match so cool and glamorous characterize the collection with asymmetrical hems and flared shapes. created for a young and free spirit, all the collection is played on the game of prints combinations. 

Paris:

CHRISTIAN DIOR

A great collection proposed by Dior, with a classic and timeless elegance. 50's mood, stright and flared shapes, soft colors and floral prints are the highlights of this collection, feminine and chic.

JEAN PAUL GAULTIER

For this collection Jean Paul Gaultier chose an exotic inspiration. Soft fabrics and sarouel shapes are the highlights. A great collection tought for a bold woman, who wants to feel confident and glamorous.

New York:

ALICE+OLIVIA

 A romantic collection, tribute to femininity and soft elegance, viewed in a modern, but always glamorous, way. Floral prints, pastel colors and soft shapes give to this collection a lovely retro taste.

CHEAP AND CHIC BY MOSCHINO

A collection, sweet and delicate, with a double soul: romantic, with its ladylike dresses, its flared shapes and its pastel shades, but also urban chic and cosmopolitan, with its bright colors and stright shapes. 

VALENTINO

The main role in this collection is played by lace, in bright and pastel colors on dresses, skirts, pants and blouses and its inserts inspired by a romantic garden in bloom.
Delicate and feminine but also attractive and casual with its animal prints and stripes on dresses and other garments with a boyfriend cut.
