Fashion trends 2013: White

After the last exhausting rainy days it's time to take a break and travel with your mind for a few minutes, pretending to be lying under the bright and warm sun of some island in the heart of Caribbean sea... however you know what they say: dreaming doesn't cost a thing! But beyond dreams and imagination, it's time for us to be prepared for summer and refrsh our wardrobe...

If the griefs and the rigors of the economic crisis have demoralized you, cheer up: S/S 2013 promises  cheerful, light and relaxed. After a winter characterized by baroque, neo-victorian and gothic references, dominated by strong and dark colors like black and burgundy, this summer will be full of bright colors!

Pretty in white... this is the key word of s/s 2013. The non-color par excellence is confirmed as one of the hottest trends of season presented in a new and cooler way, characterized by transparences, overlaps, laces and embroidery that make it elegant, romantic, easy and sexy at the same time. Who tought that white was a banal choice for summer will have to change his mind...

After being protagonist of the s/s 2012 collections of Louis Vuitton, Byblos, Versace and Ralph Lauren, among the others, this year it's presented by brands like Christian Dior, Ermanno Scervino, Chanel, Gucci and Roberto Cavalli, just to quote a few, that have chosen it to celebrate a white summer.

I don't think that exists another color that represents summer better than white: it's so fresh and bright and it's able, like other few colors, to give to the most basic outfits an allure of grace and elegance... a from of inconscious innocence, a statement of intent, presented like a canvas to be painted.

Trends 2012: Gone with the White

As I've already said in my previous posts, this will be the season of intense and sensual colors like the passional red, the glamorous green, the timless black and the warm brown in their every shades. But, for those of you that don't like dark colors, neither in winter, the fashion world proposes for f/w 2012-13 a valid alternative: white.

Vogue China (2011)

For several years, white is one of the main colors of winter and summer collections. Neutral colors par excellence, synonymous of innocence and purity, white will dominate, also this season, our wardrobe, from optical to milk white, giving it an icy but soft allure also to most bold outfits. A true classic of season, proposed by brands like Prada, Alexander McQueen and Jason Wu in the fw 2011-12 collections, this year is proposed, among the others, by Valentino, Blumarine, Emilio Pucci and Yves Saint Laurent.

I like white so much, even if it's one of those colors with a double face: rigourous but also aggressive on a basic outfit with linear and clean cuts, more innocent and romantic on outfits with soft fabrics and flowing shapes. But you have to be careful: even if it's so delicate and nice, it's not suitable to everyone. You have to have a lean and slender phisyque, to exalt the characteristics in the best way. Unfortunately you know, not everyone are so lucky to born with the physical of Naomi Campbell... My fashion tip? you can wear white, playing with accessories, colors and prints! But be careful to not overdo: the risk to look like the ice cream man lies in wait. If you don't like a total white look, here some examples of possible combination to wear:

Fashion trends 2012: White

In my opinion, nothing is more summer than a total white look. I don't why, but when I think to summer and white color they remind me my childhood, when, for escape fro scorching heat of Sicily, mom took me to get an ice cream and I regulary soiling my pretty little white dress.

Sereveral brands chose white to celebrate summer. Among them we have Chanel, Ralph Lauren, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Alberta Ferretti, Valentino, Chloé and Versace.

I really like white look, it gives me the idea of something, at the same time, simple, elegant and "innocent".

Just like black, white one of evergreen colors, that is proposed every seasons. His magic is give emphasis to female silhouette. And that's the reason why, this season, it will invade our wardrobe, ranging from the concreteness of a modern and minimal style to virtuosity of a more baroque and elaborate style. Cool and versatile, white will be our ally for the good season. 

Combined with contrasts, wear it with neon clothes or accessories, or choose a total look, in every its shades, for a minimal and flawless style, soft and delicate as a cloud.
