Annie Leibovitz

Art & Expression: Annie Leibovitz

The protagonist of Art & Expression of this month is one of my favourite photographers. Carful look, big eyeglasses and camera in hand. This is what I see when I look at Annie Leibovitz. With her Woody Allen woman face, she is considered, rigthly, the greatest photographer of our time. Her works revolutionized the concept of photo, proposing a new way to conceive the portait, telling the mood of the subject, the look behind him.

In 40 years of carreer she photographeed everything and everyone, trying to focus on her idea, playing with the subject, drawing a frame, an artifact panorama that, in the end, looks almost more real that the picture. Her style is unique and recognizable: it has a story, a thought, it follows a specific path. Annie Leibovitz is a character, a trademark, non just a picture, with a huge a visual talent, capacity of invention and innovation, a big mania and self-awaraness. She han an intense personality that transpires in her works; in her pictures, in fact, is possible to see all her world: music, art, fashion and fantasy.

Surrealism is the new fashion...

When the reality where we live is more and more complicated, stressful and devoid of color, the only possible refuge is an alternative and fantastic world, made of dream and illusion, where you can free your thoughts and come into contact with your subconcious. This is the concept on which is based the artistic mouvement of Surrealism, doubly tied with fashion since its inception. It's impossibile to not think to Elsa Schiapparelli and her creations, like the "music" dress or the the "shoe" hat, emblems of the binomial art-fashion.

Joan Mirò Nocturne (1938)

Salvador Dalì, Joan Mirò and René Magritte, leaders of this mouvment, are able to regain, through their artworks, the sense of beauty and today they're celebrated by brand like Moschino Cheap & Chic, Diane von Furstenberg and Charlotte Olympia. For the series: if trendy is good, art is super cool! Take a look...

Charlotte Olympia caspule collection for Art Basel Miami

Who said that an artwork can only be raised to a wall? That's what has to asked to herself Charlotte Olympia, the most famous shoe designer in the world, who created an exclusive capsule collection, rigorously limited edition (that follows the recent collection created for Agent Provocateur, of which I talked about here), for Art Basel Miami, for sale at Neiman Marcus Bal Harbour.

A real full immersion in the history of art, retrising artists and currents that marked indelibly the twenthieth century: from Van Gogh to Pollock, passing through Picasso, Mondrian and Delaunay. The iconic model Dolly, trademark of the brand, become a true collector's item. I've already fell in love with it! Six masterpieces to show off on your foot... Don't believe me? Take a look!

And about creations of art and fashion, in this first post, I want to talk about a girl that I knew some time ago on polyvore’s site (http://georgina-m.polyvore.com/). A girl just like the others, with a certain creative spirit.

The Dualism: Vol. I

I recently had the opportunity to discover a very interesting exhibition of photographs of an anonymous British artist at the chief of a photographic studio, whose staff is responsible for organizing and managing the relationship between the artist and his audience.

The exhibition, titled “THE DUALISM” guides the viewer through a journey of exploration of the human soul, whose subjects show their essence so raw and realistic, stripped of their humanity. In the words of Pirandello, almost «characters in search of an author».
