Chanel Cruise Collection S/S 2015 in Dubai

The brand Chanel, through its creative director kaiser Karl Lagerfeld, launched a new whole trend in fashion world: to present the Cruise Collection of the Maison in different parts of the globe, always new and unexpected but united by an irresistible charm. Destination of the s/s season 2015 are United Arab Emirates and the mysterious and suggestive atmospheres of a living paradise like Dubai, theater of the latest Chanel fashion show held just yesterday.

New York Fashion Week F/W 2014-15 pills

Is just ended last february 13th the New York Fashion Week F/W 2014-15, one of the most awaited event in fashion industry during which the biggest names of the fashion made in USA like Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch, J Mendel and Marc Jacobs, just to quote some of them, were challenged, with strokes of styles and inspirations among the most diverse, in proposing the anticipations for the next f/w season.

Archived the week of Paris Haute Couture and Alta Roma Alta Moda, is time to pass the baton to The Big Apple for seven days of pure style and glamour that confirm New York as the main capital and heartbeat of overseas fashion. Here a little review of the collections that I liked the most.

POLO RALPH LAUREN

Double show, this year, for Ralph Lauren, standard-bearer of american style and elegance, that illuminates the catwalks of NYFW with two amazing special collections. Animated by a young and fresh spirit, Polo Collection, proposes a lively look by a sporty chic mood, of very upper class girls: schoolgirls dresses, shorts, cardigans and soft blouses. 

Milan Fashion Week F/W 2013-14

Is just ended the Milan Fashion Week F/W 2013-14, one of the most expected event in fashion world. It has been a week of purest fashion during which we have seen different and styles and personalities.

Unlike what usually happens, I have to say that I appreciated every collection presented, each of them was interesting and particular in its own way. But having to give a brief summary, here's, in my opinion, the best of MFW 2013.

ALBERTA FERRETTI

The collection is a tribute to a discrete and sophisticated elegance. Main element is peplum that, enriched by soft folds, enphasizes the silhouette. Very nice the embroidery that give grace to chiffon, silk and velvet dresses. 

ANDREA INCONTRI

This collection looks like an old photo. The inspiration comes from english countrysides where dominate warm earth colors and plaid prints next to flora prints more similar to tapestry. Characterized by soft and flared shapes, the collection is the rapresentation of a strong femininity that is never flaunted. 

DOLCE & GABBANA

One of the coolest moments in MFW has surely been the fashion show of Dolce & Gabbana. In this collection there's all the sicilian religious tradition and the decorations of the byzantine churches that are reflected on garments enriched by applications that look like mosaics pieces. Even this time Stefano and Domenico gave proof of their maestry with a collection that found the perfect balance among tailoring, luxury and craftsmanship and that also is a tribute to the excellence of italian fashion and style.

EMILIO PUCCI

The collection created by Peter Dundas is more cool and urban than ever. All the glamour and the energy of metropolitan style are perfectly united with a more slow and refined mood. The result is a great and sexy collection with a little vintage look. 

JUST CAVALLI

This show was one of the most interesting during the entire MFW. The inspiration comes from the far East and dominates the whole collection: from outwear to dresses to bottoms. Protagonists of this collection are not only prints (oriental, floral and animalier, trademark of the brand),  but also iconic garments and accessories like leather jackets and backpacks.

LUISA BECCARIA

In this collection the designer proposed a fascinating and little retro style, inspired by the class and the elegance of 30's and 40's that are visible on the delicate dresses proposed for daywear and even more on the ones for nightwear that are enriched by laces and subtle gold inserts.

MOSCHINO

This is definitely one of the collection that I liked the most. The brand brought on catwalk all the glam of british tradition reinterpreted in a more modern and  irriverent way. One after the other walk the catwalk the soldiers of Buckingham Palace for the change of the guard, the schoolgirls with their typical uniforms, the party girls and also elegant ladies dressed with stylish men suits. A great collection, brit pop style.

SALVATORE FERRAGAMO

Games of volumes and overlaps characterize this collection by Salvatore Ferragamo. Inspired by elegant and minimal architectures, the collection presents garments with clean volumes that empahsize the silhouette and focus the attention on legs. Everything is enriched and made more glamorous by fetish accessories.

Odi et Amo: Hula Hoop bag

Hi guys! As I've annunced few months ago, this year I want to inaugurate a new column. Has it never happened walking in the street, taking a look to fashion shows or check out the magazines to see stuff you like and you fell in love with immediately and other ones that inspire in you diametrically opposed feelings. If this happened to you at least once, you were victims too of what I call Odi et Amo Syndrome. This new column is dedicated to it, to all those stuff that you can only love or hate.

After a little anticipation dedicated to the ugliest shoes in the world (in my opinion), the Beckett shoes by Isabel Marant (of which I talked about here), I couldn't wait to start officially and, finally, now it's time! Few months ago, it was october, I was focused on magazines and fashion channels in occasion of Paris Fashion Week S/S 2013. After seeing and appreciating the collections of Dior and Chloé, I was watching the Chanel fashion show. I started complimenting the clothes and accessories, reflecting about the great taste of the collection and thinking that Chanel is always Chanel and then it comes: white leather, round... huge! Is the Hula Hoop bag, Karl Lagerfeld's personal tribute to one the most famous toy in the world, appreciated by kids and adults, presented in two versions: maxi and mini.

Okay, let's talk about it. We all agree that to succeed in fashion scene you have to be always original and never ordinary, we all agree that from a poliedric and sometimes eccentric personality like Karl Lagerfeld one we can expect everything, but this?! Watching the models wearing this impractical wheel with an unlikely nonchalance, the first question that crossed my mind was: why? And the second: seriously? Two rigid circles, equal to the circles that hover around the waist of little girls, are the handles of bag placed between the two. The result? All shock and no chic!

Oh, come on! On what occasion could you wear a bag like that? Ah, of course, on the beach! Karl said it too... I can't stop laughing thinking about the face he did when, a bit annoyed, after the show, he had to explain to an arm of stunned journalists the use of this bizarre creation: <<It's for the beach. You need space for the beach towel, huh? and then you can put it into the sand and hang things on it>>. 

Seriously Karl? But thinking about it has a point... I mean, if you are not comfortable to look like Wilma Flinstone and walking a wheel, you can always work of immagination and experiment new uses. Are you running out of ideas? There are some that might interest you...

• Did you exceed with food during the holidays and you put on a few extra pounds? No problem! Goodbye losers and smelly gyms, I do exercise with hola hoop in the rythm of Chanel!
• Is hot outside and you are scared to get sunstroke? You can always use it as hat... but hurry up. Thats's just a question of time before Anna Dello Russo steals to you the idea!
• Your boyfriend or your friends dragged you in camping and you don't want to give up to glamour? Don't worry: open it and do a tent;
• Did you say to your boss that you're sick but you're actually doing shopping and you're scared to be caught? Well, if you're fast you can hide inside it and no one will ever find you... for sure!

What can I say? A bag of thousand faces for thousand different personalities! Now, beyond irony, I'm sorry if my words will hurt the tenderhearted feelings of the most addicted fashionistas, who elected it (in its smallest version) as best accessory of 2013, but I really don't like: I think it's ugly, uncomfortable and unusable excepted for some photoshoots realized by some glossy fashion magazines, even if matched with... no, neither in that case! Whatever my opinion is, the harsh laws of fashion have made of hula hoop the new trend for the next spring/summer season. Will it be a success? Posterity will judge!

Charity fashion show pro - AISM

As now you already get it, fashion is more than a simple passion to me. And when, thanks to a passion, you can do something good, it's really great!

Last September 22, in Palermo, in the nice location of  the club "Il circoletto", I attended to a charity night of fashion and solidarity organized by AISM, Multiple Sclerosis Italian Association, a disease that affects a milion of people in the world every year and for which are experimenting some cares. When they invited me, as fashion blogger, I was more than happy to give my contribution.

The dresses presented ware several and realized with fabrics like silk, tulle, organza and chiffon for cocktail, night, ceremony and wedding dresses refined by lace, embroidery, coral and sequin inserts and matched with ethnical handmade accessories. A collection with great finish that gives a nod to Haute Couture, thought for several occasions.

The wedding dresses were very particular and the cocktail dresses have a nice retrò touch revisited in a more modern way. Nunzia La Rosa, designer for passion, started this collaboration with AISM long time ago and since few years cares the organization and the realization of dresses for the fashion show pro - AISM.

Edinburgh International Fashion Fastival 2012

Is ended yesterday the first edition of Edinburgh International Fashion Festival, a special four days event, held from August 16th to 19th in the Summerhall, dedicated to fashion world trough catwalk shows, exhibitions, workshops, talks, concerts, screening, conferences and gala parties. The purpose of the event was to stimulate some of the most creative and respected personalities of fashion industry, by sharing their ideas with the public and show to everyone that fashion is nothing but an expression of art.
