Fashion trends 2012: Fashion to eat

In the ground floor of proposals for s/s 2012, one in particular caught my attention. It’s know that the needs of fashion impose to models and designers to not overdo with food. But perhaps the unconscious desire of something more tastier of the usual raw carrot, maybe some sweet lollipops or exquisite cupcakes, has inspired the fashion designers who brought on catwalk clothes that seem true creations of fine pastry.

 

So, be prepared to let groped by greedy pastel tones of clothes and accessories, inspired by sweet and crisp of colored macarons, of delicious marshmallow, meringue or of softness of a sorbet. A true gem that fashion designers wanted to grant us to sweeten next season, bite… ops, sorry… garment by garment! A sweet explosion of colors combined with the fragrance of mint and rose, violet and lemon. An aesthetics made by girly prints and soft (almost naïf) shades,  candy and bon ton accessories and jewels.

 An example is the fashion show s/s 2012 signed by Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton or Viktor&Rolf’s one: soft puffs of fabric and romantic pastel colors take your mind away… for a moment we are chez Laduree, in front of the best gluttony of the owl world. I open my eyes and I see Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette who, with her ladies, is surrounded by candies, fabrics and shoes!

So, the desire of sweetness has conquered catwalks and adverting campaigns, not only this year (we can mention the fashion show f/w 2011 by Isaac Mizrahi, the photo-shoot “A matter of taste” by Fulvio Bonavia or also the music video “California girls” by Katy Perry) with clothes and make up that propose shapes and colors of exquisite pastries. For a fashion… to eat!
